The iPad 2 : A Review

The iPad 2 - iPadLots of different ideas came out about iPad 2 when it hit the market recently. Some are good, some are bad. It’s hard to tell which one is true. So we put it to the test ourselves. We headed for the store and got ourselves an iPad 2. After a few days, we learned some things and we are sharing them with you.

Interface and Design
When it comes to dimension and power, nothing beats iPad 2. This is actually the genius of this masterpiece. Designed to wow the user, iPad 2 has a relatively small but intelligent interface that is very easy to use. It takes little or no effort at all to open and close the windows displayed on the interface. Which means you won’t have a delay. In our fast-paced world, you need to do lots of things in a very short time. iPad 2 buys you a lot of time by making efficient use of everything in its system. It is easy to understand why users go gaga over this device since it allows the user to work fluidly.

User Error
Despite the user-friendly interface, users of iPad 2 will still go through some crashing every now and then. Not that the makers fail to see this catastrophe coming, but they look at it as a room for improvement. Of course even the best fall down sometimes.

Industrial Engineering
When you buy an iPad2 it is impossible not to notice the amazing design of covers. Simply because it helps save energy as it puts the device in standby mode when you place it over the screen. With its unique magnet design, the cover allows the user to enjoy the camera feature to the fullest.

Actually lots of skeptics were in doubt about the design of iPad 2 covers when it came out on the market. They said that Steve Jobs, iPad 2 creator, was just wasting time on something that’s not really functional. But he proved them all wrong. In fact, the experience of using it is positively changed because of the cover.

Mobility
The whole point of using a tablet is that it is lighter and has a better feel so that the user can carry it around wherever he goes. iPad 2 offers you that experience. Compared with the first iPad, iPad 2 is slimmer and thinner. Its edges are rounder, thus it is easier to put in a bag. But if you’re going to use it for long typing, you may need an external keyboard. Meaning if you’re going to work on a novel you will have to carry around the keyboard too.

Application
Since some users of the first iPad are clamoring for third party applications, Apple is now working on it for mobile use. Surely, these apps will be built to make the iPad 2 experience better and won’t take so much memory of the device. Sooner or later tablets like iPad 2, Xoom and Glaxy Tab will be more compatible with third-party application, but until then users will have to live with the occasional crashing.

6 Applications Android Cellphones Must Have

android applicationsDo you have an android cellphone but don’t know which applications to install in it? Are you confused as to which ones you should get started off with? Fret no more. Here’s a list of software that will enable you to enjoy your gadget to the fullest. Whether you are a newbie or an experienced developer they are sure to make you realize what a great cellphone you have.

1. Google Music
There are a thousand ways to download your favorite online music, but there is only one that stands out from all the rest — Google Music. It beats the other music downloader like Jukeboxalive, Rhapsody and yes even Spotify. The reason being is that other music downloader simply fall short of providing a complete list of music you would like to listen to. Symphonic poem, pop, rock, rap, classical. Name it Google Music has it. What is good about it is that you can download all of them for free. You can copy tons and tons of music to any gadget without any cost to you.
All you have to do is copy the Google Music Manager onto your computer. It lets you transfer all your local music files to your pc from which all of them will be transfered to your Android phone.

2. Gowalla
This is a social location application designed for those who are always arriving at new places. It offers check-in services so that users can travel more safely and conveniently. Compared to everything from Foursquare to Facebook Places, Gowalla is easier to use. Its interface is so clear and simple you don’t need to take a lot of effort to visit a place.

3. Google Voice
The true purpose of a cellphone is to be able to call or text somebody (especially if you’re away from home). That purpose is defeated when the price of making a phone call (or sending SMS) keeps you from doing so. Fortunately there’s Google Voice to give you a hand.
This application enables you to telephone or send SMS to somebody in the US or Canada for free. You may not be based in either of these countries but you may have friends and relatives there. So it is still wise to get this app on your phone.

4. CSip Simple
While a lot of people are still unfamiliar with Session Initiation Protocol, or the code of procedure that creates network session, CSip Simple is an ideal app for your android cellphone especially if you’re into establishing network calls. It allows you to do so for free.

5. Advanced Task Killer
If you’re the type who gets upset because the cellphone battery is dead, this app is for you. Advanced task Killer enables you to turn off all the sofwares that are not needed at that time with just one click. This way, the battery can last longer.

6. Angry Birds
The true genius of an android cellphone is to make you happy wherever you go. Nobody can deny that Angry Birds can do that.

Apple iPad 2

Apple iPad 2 Quick Reivew

iPad 2 is simply the original iPad with a thinner design, a couple of cameras, and a faster chipset. Only it isn’t. Not any more than the original iPad was just a big iPhone. Device by device, year after year, Apple has slowly and now successfully changed the conversation from individual specs to unified experience, from reviewer and competitor driven checklists to mainstream consumer-centric usability. They’ve forced us to touch and feel our computing and not just click and think our way through it.

iPad 2 Review

Let us review a few of the new features:

Dual Core A5 Chip

The iPad 1st Generation is fast and responsive. I was amazed at how agile and sensitive the interface responded to tactile input. Twice as Fast, with the new Dual-Core A5 chip, this 2nd Generation iPad is definitely a screamer! This will make multi-tasking between applications smoother and faster loading.

10 Hour Battery

One word – WOW… Not only has Apple succeeded in reducing the over-all weight of the iPad 2, but they have managed to increase the battery life too. Not sure how they do it, and I don’t really care – but this is just one more reason I feel that the investment is worthwhile.

Two Cameras

A friend of mine wanted to Skype on the 1st Generation iPad, but we didn’t know that the camera port (which does exist on the 1st Generation iPad, but no camera is present) was empty. We loaded Skype and…. Nothing. It was an experiment, but we were deflated none the less. So the 2nd Generation iPad has the back-to-back camera arrangement and comes with a video conferencing package called FaceTime. And get this – it’s HD. I can honestly say, that I can see several uses for this in my profession.

FaceTime

Think of video chat on steroids. You can now make video calls from your iPad 2 to another iPad, an iPhone 4, the new iPod touch or to a Mac desktop machine over wi-fi. You can also take snapshot images and use PhotoBooth to edit, manage or upload to your favorite Web 2.0 site for sharing.

Smart Cover

If I have had any gripe with the 1st Generation iPad, it has to be the lack of a REALLY GOOD COVER. Sure, there are some covers out there that come close to being the right one for me… but the price was always the prohibitive factor. Apple recognized the need for consumers to protect their investment and developed a fashionable (multiple color) yet protective cover that fits your iPad perfectly. Open the cover and the iPad wakes up, close the cover and the iPad goes to sleep. It transforms into a stand and comes in 10 different colors.

AirPlay | Video Mirror | AirPrint

Three new additions that I will really come to enjoy is the wireless HDTV and speaker connection. Yup – streaming wirelessly. Video mirror allows us to plug in a Apple Digital AV adapter or VGA adapter into an HDTV or projector. Your audience will see what you see. I am going to LOVE this when I do my presentations! Finally AirPrint is the wireless printing feature. I try NOT to use hard-copy as much as possible, but if you really need to do it, there it is.

iPad 2 is an evolutionary improvement to the original iPad, but that’s true of almost every iOS device update. Taken year by year each generation seems only slightly better than the last.
